Kaifeng Fu is a reconstructed prefectural court complex that draws on Kaifeng's fame as a Northern Song capital and on the enduring legend of Judge Bao, the upright magistrate celebrated in Chinese opera, television, and popular storytelling. The complex is theatrical, with halls, courtyards, gates, and performances designed to evoke the legal and administrative world of imperial Kaifeng.
It is not an untouched ancient building, so go for cultural storytelling rather than archaeological purity. That said, the site is useful for understanding why Kaifeng's Song dynasty memory remains so strong in Chinese popular culture. It pairs well with the city's other reconstructed heritage parks and the older temple and pagoda sites.
