The MacLehose Trail is Hong Kong's classic long-distance hike, running about 100 km across the New Territories in ten stages. It links beaches, reservoirs, ridges, country parks, and rougher upland paths, with sections ranging from easy half-day walks to demanding climbs.
The eastern stages around Sai Kung are among the most scenic, with sea views and volcanic rock landscapes. Many walkers tackle the trail one stage at a time using public transport at trailheads, while campsites make longer trips possible.
