Tung Lung Chau is a small island off Clearwater Bay with a wilder feel than many of Hong Kong's easier outings. Visitors come for sea cliffs, open views, walking paths, and a break from the dense city rather than for shops or restaurants.
The island is best on a clear day when ferries are running and the weather is good for exposed paths. Bring water and food, check return transport before you go, and leave enough time to enjoy the coast without rushing back to the pier.
