Huangsiqiao Old Town is a preserved stone-walled town west of Fenghuang. Its defensive wall is the main reason to come: about 686 metres around, with three gates, Qing-style gate towers, arrow buttresses and projecting forts.
The site is quieter than Fenghuang's riverside old town and gives a clearer look at the region's military architecture. It works best as a short side trip for travellers who want another historic stop beyond the main Fenghuang sights.
