Hailar River and Riverside Park

The Hailar River runs through the city and the riverside park along its southern bank is the main urban green space, used by residents for morning exercises, evening walks, and weekend gatherings. The park is not spectacular in itself, but it gives a clear sense of the city's scale and atmosphere — this is a prosperous provincial centre with a Mongolian cultural overlay, not a tourist resort. The riverside path offers good views of the river's wide, flat channel and the steppe visible beyond the city's edge.

The bridge area near the centre of the park is a good place to watch daily life: food vendors set up in the evenings, and the weekend market brings out handicraft stalls selling Mongolian jewellery, felt goods, and local dairy products. The dairy culture of Hulunbuir is worth engaging with directly — fresh yogurt sold in clay pots, artisanal milk skin (naipi), and dried cheese balls (aerbasi) are all available from vendors near the riverside market.
