China Dinosaur Park

China Dinosaur Park is Changzhou's most visited tourist attraction, a large complex in the Xinbei District that combines a genuine fossil and dinosaur exhibit with theme park rides. The scientific content is serious — more than 50 actual dinosaur skeletons are on display, many rare or unique specimens excavated from Chinese sites — but the park also has amusement rides, interactive exhibits for children, and elaborate dinosaur sculptures throughout the grounds.

For families with children it is clearly worthwhile; adults without children will find the fossil halls and skeleton displays more interesting than the fairground elements. The park is rated 5A by the Chinese tourism authorities and reflects that investment in its facilities. It sits in the Xinbei District, north of the old city centre, roughly 20 minutes by metro from the main train station.

A story
Changzhou developed a dinosaur park in the 1990s after the city hosted a major travelling exhibition of Chinese fossil specimens. The park has since grown into one of China's largest dinosaur-themed attractions and holds genuine scientific content alongside its theme park elements — over 50 dinosaur skeletons are displayed, many excavated from Inner Mongolia and Xinjiang.
