Cliff Coffin Sound-and-Light Show

The nightly sound-and-light performance projected onto the Danxia cliff faces is the most theatrical element of a visit to Longhu. Coloured lights illuminate the red sandstone walls after dark and a narrated story about the cliff coffins, the ancient Guyue people, and the founding of Taoism here is played out with music and projected images across several hundred metres of cliff face. The production values are high by Chinese scenic-area standards.

Staged theatrics aside, the performance is a genuinely effective way to experience the scale of the cliffs at a time when the daytime tour groups have thinned. Seating is provided along the river bank; tickets are separate from the general entrance fee. If you are already spending a night near the mountain, attending is easy and worth doing; if you are day-tripping from Yingtan it requires careful timing.
