Ruijin Revolutionary History Museum

The Ruijin Revolutionary History Museum provides the contextual framework for all the individual site visits in the city. It covers the establishment of the Jiangxi Soviet, the life of the rural Communist state in the early 1930s, the five encirclement campaigns by Nationalist forces, and the decision to break out and begin the Long March in October 1934. The collection includes original documents, weapons, agricultural implements, currency issued by the Soviet, and extensive photographic records.

The exhibits are primarily in Chinese, but the scope and scale of the collection makes it worthwhile even without language access. The museum is typically visited before exploring the individual sites at Yeping, which provides the physical context for what the museum describes. Allow two hours for both.
