Liaoyuan sits on a secondary rail line about ninety minutes south of Changchun. Trains run regularly on the Changchun-Liaoyuan route, and the journey is the most practical way to arrive. Buses also connect Liaoyuan to Changchun, Jilin City, and points south toward the Changbai mountain region.
The city has no airport. For travellers arriving from Beijing or further afield, Changchun Longjia International Airport is the closest hub, from which you continue by train or bus.
