Qingtongxia is on the railway line running south from Yinchuan toward Zhongwei, and trains stop here — though the station is some distance from the dagobas site, requiring a taxi or local bus. Buses from Yinchuan's south bus station are more convenient and take about 90 minutes. Taxis from Yinchuan can also be hired for a day trip, which is the most practical option if you want to combine the dagobas with a boat trip on the Yellow River without worrying about schedules.
Most visitors treat Qingtongxia as a day trip from Yinchuan rather than an overnight stop. The town itself offers basic accommodation but no particular reason to stay.
