Shizuishan is linked to Yinchuan by high-speed rail on the Baotou-Lanzhou line, with the journey taking about 40 minutes. Regular trains also connect north to Baotou in Inner Mongolia, making Shizuishan a practical first or last stop on a route through the region. By road it is about 90 minutes from Yinchuan via the G6 expressway.
From Inner Mongolia, the train connection via Wuhai or Baotou is the most efficient approach. Buses from Yinchuan also serve the route.
