Dezhou's most distinctive sight is the Tomb of Sultan Paduka Pahala — the only tomb of a foreign monarch on Chinese soil, maintained continuously for over six hundred years and still the subject of active Filipino-Chinese heritage diplomacy. Haidao Jinshan Temple, one of northern China's significant Buddhist pilgrimage centres, draws visitors for its scale and atmosphere rather than its age.
