Getting There

Dujiangyan is 60km northwest of Chengdu and is best reached by high-speed rail. Trains on the Chengdu–Dujiangyan intercity line depart from Chengdu's Shiyangchang station (not the main Chengdu East or North railway stations) and reach Dujiangyan in around 30 minutes. Trains run frequently throughout the day; no advance booking is needed for this short journey. A second station on the same line — Qingchengshan — serves Qingcheng Mountain, one stop beyond Dujiangyan.

Long-distance buses from Chengdu's Xinnanmen bus terminal also reach Dujiangyan in about an hour, depending on traffic, but the train is faster and more reliable. Private car or taxi from Chengdu takes a similar time by expressway.

From Dujiangyan station, the irrigation site is about 3km away — reachable by local bus, taxi, or a pleasant walk along the river. The panda base is 8km north of the station; take a taxi.
