Wucai Tan

Wucai Tan, usually translated as Colourful Beach, is Burqin's signature excursion. Low cliffs of red, ochre, grey, and purple sediment rise above the Irtysh River, catching the late sun while poplars and water soften the foreground.

It is at its best near sunset, which is also when everyone else comes. Accept the crowds, find a side angle, and watch the colour shift as the light drops behind the river plain.

A story
The colours at Wucai Tan come from mineral-rich sandstone and mudstone cut by wind and water along the Irtysh River.
