Founded in 2005 by an American expat couple, Salvador's is the longest-running foreign-style café in Kunming and the de facto meeting point of the city's English-speaking community. The food is North American crossed with Mexican and Yunnanese — proper espresso, breakfast burritos, sandwiches, vegetarian options — and the coffee is roasted in-house from Yunnan beans.
The café occupies two narrow floors on Wenhua Xiang and is open from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. WiFi is reliable, power sockets are easy to find, and the bookshelf in the corner is stocked with English-language books for swap. A good first stop for a foreign visitor needing to reset.
