A long-running Yunnan restaurant on the western side of Cuihu Park, Heavenly Manna does a careful set of provincial classics in a quiet, slightly upmarket setting — wooden booths, white tablecloths, and proper crockery rather than the plastic stools and tin pots of the typical noodle shop. The wild-mushroom hotpot in summer is the standout; in cooler months the steam-pot chicken and the Bai-style cold noodles are the things to order.
Prices are higher than at the street places — a meal for two with beer comes in around 250 RMB — but this is one of the easier places for an unhurried Yunnanese dinner without language difficulties, and the staff will guide foreigners through the menu. Reservations recommended on weekends.
