Dieshui River Waterfall drops over a dark volcanic cliff close to Tengchong's urban area, making it one of the easiest natural sights in the city to reach. The fall is not remote wilderness, but the basalt setting gives it real geological character.
It works well as a short stop alongside Tengchong's hotter, larger volcanic landscapes. Visit after rain if possible, when the water has more force and the contrast with the black rock is sharper.
