Jiaxing is excellently served by the high-speed rail network. Fast trains to and from Shanghai take under thirty minutes; trains to Hangzhou take about forty-five minutes. The Jiaxing station is on the main Shanghai-Hangzhou intercity line, which means frequent departures in both directions throughout the day. Jiaxing South station serves some high-speed services and is closer to the city centre and South Lake. From the station, taxis and local buses reach the main sights quickly.
Jiaxing is also reachable by bus from Shanghai, Hangzhou, Suzhou, and nearby canal towns including Tongji and Wuzhen. The bus station is centrally located.
