The Nanji Islands sit well out in the East China Sea, southeast of Pingyang's mainland coast. They are the county's standout attraction: a protected island group known for shell-sand beaches, clear water by regional standards, seafood, and a marine ecosystem rich enough to be recognised as a biosphere reserve.
This is not a quick taxi stop. You need to reach the ferry point, check sailing times, and plan around weather, especially outside summer. The reward is a very different face of Zhejiang from the province's cities and canal towns.
