Lefkoşa has no airport of its own. Visitors usually fly into Ercan in northern Cyprus (a 30-minute drive) or, more often, into Larnaca on the south coast and then cross at the Astromeritis or Metehan checkpoints by car, or by foot at the Ledra Street or Ledra Palace crossings if already in southern Nicosia.
A passport and Cyprus visa/EU ID is required to cross. Crossings are quick and routine, but rental cars normally need extra insurance to cross from south to north.
