Visakhapatnam has good connections by air, rail, and road.
By air: Visakhapatnam Airport (VTZ) is about 15 km from the city centre and receives domestic flights from Hyderabad, Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Bengaluru. IndiGo, Air India, and SpiceJet are the main operators. An international terminal handles some Southeast Asian routes.
By train: Vizag is on the main Kolkata–Chennai coastal railway line and is well connected to both cities, as well as Hyderabad (overnight trains), Delhi (the Andhra Pradesh Express), and most of south India. The railway station (Visakhapatnam Junction) is in the centre of the city. Booking in advance is essential on popular routes.
By road: National Highway 16 connects Vizag to Chennai (about 800 km, 12 hours) and Kolkata (about 1,000 km). Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) operates frequent overnight buses to Hyderabad (around 12 hours) and other Andhra cities.
