Ramakrishna Beach — universally called RK Beach — is the main seafront of Visakhapatnam, running for several kilometres along the Bay of Bengal. A broad promenade runs its length, lined with food stalls, carnival rides, and small parks. The INS Kursura, a decommissioned Soviet-era submarine, is beached here permanently and can be walked through — one of the more unusual naval museums in India.
Evening is the best time to come: the light is good, the temperature drops, and the promenade fills with families, couples, and street food vendors. Bhelpuri and corn chaat are the snacks of choice. The beach itself is not ideal for swimming — the currents can be strong — but as a seafront promenade it works well.
