About 15 kilometres from Wargal, perched on a rocky hillock near the village of Nachanpalli, the Nachagiri Narasimha Swamy Temple is one of the more important pilgrimage sites in northern Telangana. The temple enshrines a self-manifested (Swayambhu) idol of Lord Narasimha — the man-lion avatar of Vishnu — alongside Goddess Lakshmi, carved directly from the living rock of the hilltop. The temple is said to be around 600 years old, though its current stone construction is more recent.
The hilltop setting is striking, with views across the flat Deccan farmland below. The main shrine is surrounded by subsidiary shrines to Surya, Shiva, Dattatreya, Lord Rama, and the Navagrahas. Pilgrims who visit Wargal Saraswati Temple often combine the journey with a stop at Nachagiri, as the two sites sit within easy driving distance of each other on the same road from Hyderabad.
The temple is open throughout the day for darshan, with the busiest periods during Narasimha Jayanti and on full moon days. Auto-rickshaws and private vehicles reach the base of the hill; steps lead up to the shrine.
