Indira Gandhi Park

Indira Gandhi Park is a green lung in the centre of Itanagar, a good place for a walk in the cooler morning hours before the heat builds. The park has a small zoo attached, which holds indigenous animals including the clouded leopard, Himalayan black bear, and several species of deer. The zoo is basic by international standards, but the animals are well-represented and the setting in forested hills gives it more character than most urban zoos.

The park also has a children's play area and is popular with local families, especially at weekends. Combined with the nearby state museum, it fills a pleasant morning.
