Mahabhairab Temple is one of Tezpur's main Shiva shrines, traditionally linked to Banasura. The present structure is modern concrete, so do not come looking for ancient architecture, but the temple remains an active and popular religious stop.
It is most interesting as part of a wider Tezpur circuit. Pair it with Agnigarh and the archaeological sites, and the city's mix of legend, worship, and ruins starts to hold together.
