Qila Rai Pithora preserves scattered ramparts from one of Delhi's earliest fortified cities, expanded by Prithviraj Chauhan in the 12th century from the older Lal Kot settlement. The remains are fragmentary, but they are a useful stop for travellers tracing the older layers of Mehrauli around Qutb Minar and the archaeological park.
