Getting There

By air. Goa has two airports. Dabolim (GOI), 30 km south of Panaji, is the older airport — still the busy domestic terminal, also used for some international flights. Manohar International Airport (GOX) at Mopa, 35 km north, opened in 2022 and now handles most international charter and scheduled flights. Pre-paid taxis from either airport cost around ₹1,000 to Panaji; the drive is about an hour from each.

By train. Goa's main railway station is Madgaon (Margao), 30 km south of Panaji — Konkan Railway trains from Mumbai (8–10 hours), Mangalore, Pune, and points across India. From Madgaon, take a bus or pre-paid taxi to Panaji. The smaller Karmali station, closer to Panaji, also takes some Konkan Railway services.

By bus. The Kadamba bus stand in central Panaji runs frequent buses to Mumbai (overnight, 12 hours), Bangalore (10 hours), Mangalore, Hampi, and Pune. KSRTC and KTC are the main operators; sleeper buses are reasonably comfortable.

By road. NH66 runs the length of the Konkan coast; NH4A connects Goa to Bangalore. Driving in Goa is easier than in most Indian states; rental scooters and small cars are widely available.
