The classic Panaji tourist experience: an hour-long cruise along the Mandovi, leaving from Santa Monica Jetty near the Old Secretariat at sunset, with a Goan music and dance performance on the upper deck. The repertoire is broadly folk — Konkani folk songs, fugdi and dekni dances, the occasional dulpod — and the staging is unsophisticated, but the river at dusk is genuinely beautiful and the cruise puts you on the water for the changing light over the bridges and the city.
Several operators run the same basic itinerary at different price points. Tickets are sold from kiosks along the jetty an hour before each cruise. Drinks (including beer and Goan rum) are available on board. Combine with a meal at one of the riverfront restaurants on either side of the embarkation point.
