The Salvis are the last family in Patan producing genuine double-ikat Patola, the technique that gave the town its global textile reputation. Their workshop and showroom on Patolawala street sell finished saris, scarves, dupattas and small framed weavings — prices reflect the labour, with a full sari starting at about ₹2 lakh. You can watch the weaving (a few hours of work yields perhaps an inch of finished cloth) before browsing.
Beware of cheaper "Patola" sold elsewhere in town: most are single-ikat or screen-printed imitations. The Salvis make only double-ikat, and the price difference is enormous. The shop is friendly and not pushy — they are clearly aware that for most visitors this is a museum visit, not a shopping trip.
