Sharmishtha Lake is the open-air counterpoint to Vadnagar's tight lanes. The old fortified town bends around its northern edge, and the lake helps explain why the town's plan is not a simple rectangle. Ghats, walkways, and views back toward the Kirti Torana make it a good place to slow down between monuments.
The lake is also part of Vadnagar's old water system, fed historically from the Kapila River by canal. Come early or late in the day if you want softer light and a calmer walk along the edge.
