The Chamera Dam, a concrete gravity dam across the Ravi some 20 km north-west of Khajjiar, has created a long, narrow reservoir that snakes between forested hills. It is an easy half-day trip from Khajjiar by taxi, often combined with Dalhousie.
The Himachal Pradesh tourism corporation runs a small boating point at the reservoir — pedalos and a 30-minute motorboat ride — and there are a couple of dhabas with terraces over the water. It is more a relaxed stop than a sight in its own right, but the colour of the water against the dark hills is striking.
