Khajjiar is at its best from April to June, when the meadow is green, the air is cool, and the deodars are at their fullest. This is also the busiest season — many Indian families escape the plains' heat by coming up here — so weekends are crowded.
September and October are quieter and equally pleasant, with clear skies after the rains. The monsoon (July–August) brings heavy showers and the road from Dalhousie can be temperamental, but the meadow is at its lushest and there are almost no visitors.
From December to February Khajjiar sometimes gets a light snowfall, which is what draws the small but committed winter tourism crowd. Most resorts stay open but evenings are cold; pack layers.
