A Hindu temple dedicated to Chandi Mata, one of the principal pilgrimage sites in the Kishtwar area. The temple draws devotees especially during the Chandi Mata festival in summer, when large numbers of pilgrims make the journey up from Jammu. The setting, on a ridge with mountain views, is worth the short walk from the bazaar.
The festival (usually June) fills the town with pilgrims and traders and is one of the livelier events in the calendar. Outside festival time the temple is quiet and the walk up offers views across the Chenab valley and to the higher peaks beyond.
