Ardhkuwari is the halfway point of the yatra and the main rest stop. The temple here is built around a small natural cleft in the rock — the Garbh Joon, literally "the womb passage" — through which pilgrims squeeze on their hands and knees. The opening is narrow enough that broader-shouldered pilgrims sometimes have to be coaxed through.
There is a langar (free pilgrim kitchen), restrooms, and a sleeping hall here. Many people break the climb overnight at Ardhkuwari and continue at dawn. Expect a long queue for the Garbh Joon at peak times.
