Badami railway station is about 5 km from the old town, with connections on the Hubballi-Bagalkot side of the Karnataka rail network. Auto-rickshaws meet most trains, though it is worth agreeing the fare before setting off.
By road, Badami is about 130 km from Bijapur, 140 km from Hubli, and roughly 150 km from Hampi via Hospet. Buses run from Bagalkot and nearby towns, but a hired car is much easier if you want to combine Badami with Aihole and Pattadakal.
