Karnataka's coastline runs for roughly 320 kilometres along the Arabian Sea, largely untouched compared to Goa. The beaches south of Mangalore — Someshwar, Ullal, Panambur — are backed by fishing villages and see mostly domestic visitors. Further north, Gokarna's cluster of beaches (Om, Kudle, Half Moon, Paradise) have a long-standing reputation as the quieter alternative to the Goa scene. Karwar, near the Goa border, has genuinely beautiful beaches with the added drama of the Western Ghats behind them.
