The Solah Khamba Mosque stands within Bidar Fort and takes its name from its sixteen front pillars. It is broad, sober and more impressive in person than in photographs, especially when the light cuts across the arches and shows the weight of the stone.
Combine it with the fort palaces rather than treating it as a separate excursion. The mosque helps explain how Bidar functioned as a capital: military, courtly and religious architecture were all packed into the same fortified plateau.
