Chitradurga is on the Bangalore–Pune highway (NH48), 200km north of Bangalore and 60km south of Davangere.
By road: Most people drive or take a bus from Bangalore (about 3.5 hours) or Davangere (about an hour). Direct buses run frequently from Bangalore's Majestic bus stand. The KSRTC operates regular services.
By rail: Chitradurga railway station has services from Bangalore (overnight trains as well as day trains), Hubli, and Davangere. The station is about 2km from the fort.
By air: The nearest airport is Bangalore (Kempegowda International, 200km). No scheduled flights serve Chitradurga directly.
