Unkal Lake

A reservoir on the northern edge of the city, Unkal Lake is popular with locals for evening walks along the bund. The setting is pleasant in the early morning and at dusk, when the light is soft and the crowds are manageable. Egrets and other waterbirds work the shallows.

The lake is close to the Chandramauleshwara Temple, making the two a natural pairing for a half-day outing from the city centre. There are snack vendors along the embankment and benches overlooking the water. Not a destination in itself, but a genuinely pleasant place to spend an hour if you are in the neighbourhood.
