Getting There

Thiruvananthapuram International Airport (TRV) is about 6 km from the city centre and has international connections to the Gulf, Southeast Asia, and Sri Lanka, as well as domestic connections to all major Indian cities. It is the main entry point for visitors to Kerala's southern beaches.

By train, Thiruvananthapuram Central is a major station on the west coast line, with direct connections to Mumbai (around 18–20 hours), Chennai (around 12 hours), and all Kerala cities. Trains from the north of India run to this terminus; booking in advance is essential for sleeper berths, particularly during the October–March tourist season.

By road, the city is connected by National Highway 66 (the coastal highway) running north to Kollam, Alappuzha, Kochi, and beyond. State buses, private buses, and shared taxis cover these routes. The bus station is near the train station in the city centre.
