The Vellari Mala range is a serious hiking area on the edge of Wayanad, with Vavul Mala rising to 2,339 metres. The approach from Muthappanpuzha passes forest, streams, and the Olichuchattam waterfall, so go prepared for a proper mountain walk rather than a quick viewpoint stop.
