Getting There

Ahmednagar is served by its own railway station on the Pune–Manmad line, with regular trains connecting it to Pune (about 2 hours) and to Nashik and beyond. Several daily trains run to and from both Pune and Mumbai, though some require a change at Pune Junction. The station is about 4 km from the fort and city centre.

By road, Ahmednagar is about 120 km northeast of Pune via the NH160 highway — around two hours by car or by the frequent state transport buses that run from Pune's Swargate bus terminal. Private buses and shared cabs are also available. From Mumbai, the journey is around 5 hours.

Within the city, auto-rickshaws are the standard way to get around. For visits to Meherabad (10 km south) and Meherazad (14 km north), you'll need to hire an auto-rickshaw for the day or arrange a taxi.
