Nagaon, about 9 km south of Alibaug, has the widest beach in the area and is the centre of the water-sports scene — parasailing, banana boats, jet skis. It is loud and tacky on weekends, peaceful on weekdays.
The village behind the beach is one big collection of cottages, weekend villas, and small resorts catering to the Mumbai crowd. Seafood at the beachside shacks is good and reasonably priced.
