Bhandardhara is about 185 kilometres from Mumbai and 110 kilometres from Pune by road. Most visitors arrive by car or motorbike — there is no convenient public transport directly to the village. The best route from Mumbai is via the Mumbai-Nashik Highway (NH 160) to Igatpuri, then southeast through the Ghats to Bhandardhara.
The nearest railway station is Igatpuri, on the Central Railway line between Mumbai and Nashik. From Igatpuri, Bhandardhara is 35 kilometres by road; shared jeeps and autos connect occasionally, but hiring transport is more reliable. Nashik is the larger hub for those arriving by overnight bus from Pune or Mumbai.
The road from Igatpuri passes through spectacular mountain scenery, especially after the monsoon when the Ghats are at their greenest.
