The monsoon (July–September) is the best and busiest time to visit Bhandardhara. The landscape is at its most dramatic — waterfalls running full, the reservoir brimming, and the Sahyadri hills covered in vivid green. This is when the trip is most memorable, but also when roads are busiest with weekenders from Mumbai and Pune.
October and November are excellent: the rains have cleared, the air is cool, and the trekking conditions for Kalsubai and Ratangad are ideal. The hills are still green and the light is clear.
December to February is the coolest and driest period — good for trekking but the landscape is less lush. The waterfalls may have slowed to a trickle. March to June is hot and dry, with little to recommend it unless you are specifically seeking the heat.
Avoid weekends in July and August if possible — the MTDC resort books out months ahead and the roads from Mumbai can be very slow.
