Filmcity (Dadasaheb Phalke Chitranagari) in Goregaon, on the edge of the Aarey forest, is one of the world's largest film production complexes, housing dozens of permanent outdoor sets representing Mughal forts, Mumbai's old neighbourhoods, London streets, and Indian villages. The 520-acre campus is used continuously for Bollywood film and television production.
Guided tours of Filmcity run on weekend mornings and occasionally on weekdays when production schedules permit. Visitors may catch filming in progress on outdoor sets. The forested setting — the Aarey Colony forest abuts the back of the complex — gives it an unexpectedly pleasant environment. Pre-booking is essential and access is controlled strictly.
