The road through Tengnoupal crests at around 1,450 metres, and just before or just after the town — depending on which way you are travelling — there are open stretches where the forest gives way and the Manipur valley unrolls below you. On a clear morning the view extends far north toward Imphal, a wide green basin enclosed by folded ridges.
This is not a formal viewpoint with a car park and railings; it is simply the natural consequence of being on a high pass. Pull over on a straight section of road, take in the scale of the landscape, and continue. The best light is in the early morning before the haze builds.
