One of the oldest golf courses in Asia, laid out by Captain Jackson in 1898 in a natural amphitheatre of pines. The 18-hole course rolls over the valley floor with stands of long-needle Khasi pine forming the rough; old hands say it is the closest thing to a Scottish links you will find this side of the Bay of Bengal.
Casual visitors can walk the perimeter free of charge for the views — it is one of the prettiest patches of green in Shillong. Green fees for play are modest by international standards, but turn up at the clubhouse a day ahead to arrange clubs and a caddy.
