Sabara Srikhetra is Koraput's main temple and the town's best-known landmark. It is dedicated to Jagannath, but it was built with a more open social idea than the older shrine at Puri, making it a meaningful stop in a district with many Adivasi communities.
The temple is busiest during Rath Yatra and other major Hindu festivals. Even outside festival time, it is worth visiting before the museum nearby, as the two together explain much of Koraput's local identity.
