Kota Junction is a major railway junction on the Mumbai–Delhi main line and is well connected to both cities, as well as to Jaipur, Udaipur, and Agra. Most travellers arrive by train. The journey from Delhi takes around four hours on express services; from Mumbai around eight to ten hours. There is no commercial airport with scheduled service — the nearest is Jaipur, about 250 km away.
State buses and private coaches connect Kota to Bundi (40 km, one hour), Jaipur (250 km, four hours), and Udaipur (290 km, five hours). Intercity autos and shared taxis run the Kota–Bundi route frequently through the day.
